Our Headquarters
A Little History

Our organization was incorporated on October 21, 1968. In November of 1968 the organization got permission from the Fire Commissioners in the town to utilize a portion of a building they owned to garage our vehicle. With the exception of a one year period, this is where our vehicle was garaged. There seemed to be some problem that year and the Fire Commissioners asked us to leave the building. The reason is not documented and I haven't found anyone who remembers the specifics. In any event, the facilities lacked training space since we shared them with a candy store operated by Joe Green. Although this was an advantage since Joe was always willing to help us with deliveries, servicing, or anything else that we needed someone at the building to do, it just wasn't our building. We had hoped for our own building ever since I became associated with the organization. Early in 1991, negotiations to acquire property for a new building were started. In March of 1992, we started construction of our new building. Nick Pesola and Ron Mastronardi, two members of the organization, spearheaded the effort to construct the building. It was projected to be completed in November of 1992. Things went better than expected. We officially cut the ribbon on Sunday, October 25, 1992. The president of the organization, Mr. John Mulreany, Jr. led the ceremony and thanked the many volunteers who donated their time and the many other people that contributed money and material. We were finally in our new quarters.

Our Original Sign

John Mulreany Jr. was president of the ambulance corp during the efforts to construct the building. His father, John Mulreany Sr., was one of the original members of the organization. Mr. Mulreany Sr. served as Secretary for several years. Mr. Mulreany Sr. died on November 17, 1995 at the age of 65. The family requested that donations be made to the Carmel Volunteer Ambulance Corp in his name. The members of the organization were planning to purchase a sign to identify the building. This was done with the money donated in Mr. Mulreany's name and the above sign stands as a tribute to Mr. John Mulreany Sr.'s dedication, service to the ambulance corp., and appreciation to his son, Mr. John Mulreany Jr.'s, efforts in accomplishing the tasks that resulted in our having the beautiful facilities pictured above.
